3 Craft Ideas to Brighten Up Your Holiday Dinner Table
Want to get the kids into the Thanksgiving mood? Let them help decorate the house with these easy craft ideas. The crafts are both cute and fun. Kids will love to be part of making the holiday enjoyable for the entire family. If you are having guests this will truly be a rewarding experience for the kids.
Place Markers- These are so cute and really allow the kids to help by giving them a chance to arrange the seating for the Thanksgiving table. Simply get some card stock and cut them into 4 by 4 inch squares. Fold in half. Next comes the fun part. Remember the snacks, Bungles? Well, they make perfect little cornucopias for placing on the name card. Take some small dried floral, use what you have, your favorite, or fall floral purchased from a hobby/craft store. Glue a small piece into the Bungle snack. Then glue the mini cornucopia to one side of the folded card stock. Next, write a name of someone coming to dinner in the remaining space with calligraphy or pretty markers. Simple and cute. Of course, the kids can eat the rest of the leftover Bungles!
Crayon Bundles- This is a wonderful treat for the children making them as well as any other kids that might join them for Thanksgiving dinner. You can get small packages of crayons at a dollar store or get a party pack. Then get a brown paper bag, from a grocery store or lunch bags, and cut into small strips that are shorter than the crayons and long enough that it will encircle several crayons. Take that strip and wrap it around the bundle of crayons. Glue or tape the paper strip into place. Next, take some raffia and wrap it around the bundle in the center. Tie the raffia into a bow or just a knot with long string. These work well set out on the table with homemade coloring books. There are many sites on the internet to get free worksheets or coloring pictures. Make it fun! Good entertainment for the kids while the dinner is being served.
Cornucopia Centerpiece-This project is so much fun. It is fairly simple, but the end product is so cute. You need to get an empty cornucopia from a craft store, some brown felt and some fall floral picks. For this craft you will also need a glue gun, so adult supervision is a must. Cut the brown felt into a square piece that will fit inside the cornucopia. Then glue it to the inside. After that, arrange your floral picks anyway you would like. Simply dab a small amount of glue onto the end of each pick and put into place. You have just created a beautiful centerpiece for the table.
Now with these easy crafts complete, sit back and watch your kids take pride in their work. They have helped make the holiday a truly special one!
