This Mother's Day craft project is simply and should cost you $20 or less per set of Kitchen Canisters.

The first step is to cut the scrapbook paper out into small shapes and squares.

Words can be added last, so have the kids mainly focus on covering the body of the outside of the kitchen canisters.

Start by laying a piece of scrapbook paper on the Kitchen Canisters and using decoupage to attach it in place. Dip your brush in the decoupage medium and then brush on the scrapbook paper.

You may want to paint on a layer of decoupage medium to the Kitchen Canisters and then lay the scrapbook paper on. You can add more medium on top. Use more decoupage medium to hold this down if necessary.

Continue this process until the kids cover the entire wooden Kitchen Canisters. Your paper edges should overlap, creating a layered look on the Kitchen Canisters.

You can add as many layers of Amy scrapbook paper as you would like. The decoupage glue medium will dry clear and hard.

Now, have the kids cut out words form contrasting scrapbook paper. These can spell out words like Flour, Sugar, or even Love and Mom. Let the kids get really creative here.

Now, let the decoupage dry completely.

The kids can use more markers, acrylic paint, paint pens, and even puff paint at this point to decorate the outside of the canisters for Mom.

Use hot glue or wood glue to attach beads, flat backed marbles, flat back jewels, and anything else the kids want. They could even use some more decoupage and add some photos!

Let this final step dry and you are finished.

Have the kids wrap the homemade Mother's Day gift themselves and they will have made this entire gift all but themselves!
